Michael Charles Flynn, 41, died Feb. 6, 2010, in Wasilla.

A private family service was held Tuesday. A celebration of life will be 1-5 p.m. March 6 at Peter's Creek Christian Center. The family welcomes photos, stories and memories of Mike.

Michael was born Nov. 14, 1968, at Providence Hospital. He grew up in King Salmon and graduated from Bristol Bay Borough High School in Naknek. He attended roughneck training at AVTEC and graduated in 1988. His middle name was in honor of his grandfather, Charlie Evans, who was one of the original mushers in the 1925 Nome Serum Run.

Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmachining and riding his Harley. He had a successful and varied career in the oil fields, working in many places, including the North Slope, Cook Inlet, Wyoming, Montana and the Far East.

He was also a commercial fisherman and worked as a truck driver and mechanic.

Mike was known for his sense of humor, boisterous laugh and for being a great storyteller. He had a quick wit and made many friends wherever he traveled. Mike was generous and willing to help anyone with any tasks or projects. He often wound up taking over and running things.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Cora Flynn; sister, Lanai Smart; and sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Don Burroughs, all of Chugiak; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas J. Flynn Jr. and Jaclyn Dee Dee Sallee of Anchorage; and brother, Chas Flynn of King Salmon. He also leaves his fiancee, Rachel Aaberg, who is expecting their child this summer. Mike leaves his nephews, Andrew, Darien and Aaron; niece, Charlotte; and nephews, Richard and Nathan.

In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up at Credit Union 1, account 498949.
