Michael "Mike" James Barth, 74, passed away on Feb. 8, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born on Nov. 16, 1943, in Minnesota, however he called Alaska his home.
Mike lost the love of his life, Louise Barth, who passed away on Dec. 18, 2017. His family believes that he died of a broken heart. Mike and Louise met at an Anchorage post office, where they worked together for 41 years until they retired together. They did everything together. After being together and happily married for so long, Mike lost his will to go on without Louise.
Mike will be missed dearly by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He will be remembered by his family for his generosity, his potato salad and, of course, his Tupperware.
His main focus in life was taking care of Louise and their many grandchildren. He was known by his grandchildren as "Papa." Papa would send generous care packages including favorite snacks when he was away from them.
Mike is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise; parents, Katherine and Andrew Barth; sister, Katherine Tober; and brother, Pete Barth. He is survived by son, Al Evanoff (wife Suzanne); brothers, Tom Barth, George Barth, Joe Barth and Jerry Barth; sisters, Lib Kuehn and Barbara Swanson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, at 2 p.m.
