Beloved daughter, Minister Natasha Lynette Odom, 36, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Natasha was a loving mother to her five children, daughter, niece and friend. She will be dearly missed by all. She was born on June 24, 1979, to Dr. Javis L. Odom and Deloise Odom in Anchorage, Alaska. "Tasha," as she was known by many, attended Abbott Loop Elementary; graduated from Stellar Secondary School with honors in May 1996; and attended the University of Alaska - Anchorage. Tasha was very active in her church, Turning Point Christian Center Church, where she held many positions: Minister of Music, Youth Ministry and Prison Ministry. Tasha had a great gift of music and played several instruments, including the piano and violin, and loved to sing! Her favorite scripture is John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Tasha was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leoney and Dudley Fuqua of Magnolia, Miss.; and fraternal grandparents, Robert and Brunetta Odom of Columbia, Miss.; uncle, Donald Stewart of Anchorage; and aunt, Mary Nell Odom of Flint, Mich. She is survived and leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Dr. Javis L. and Deloise Odom; and her five children, Jaydell (12), Kaleb (10), Hezikiah and Arianna (6) and Nyla (4) all of Anchorage; aunts and uncles, Dudley Fuqua Jr., Gillis Fuqua (Shantel), Caruth Fuqua, Edna Cockerham (AJ), James Stewart (Diane), Donnis Stewart, Wayne Robinson (April), Wanda Robinson, Russell Stewart (Patricia) and Carolyn Cockerham all of Anchorage, Donald Fuqua of Chicago, Ill., Norman Odom (Lori) of Washington, Glorya Robins (Willie) of Jackson, Miss., Lessie Odom-Rhymes (John) of Flint, Mich., Willie Odom (Laquita) and Richard Glen Odom (Olivia) of Anchorage and Carolyn Payton (George) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Tasha touched many lives through her school, community, church and work and made a great impact on everyone she came in contact with. The loves of her life were her children. Her smile could light up a room and change lives. A service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Turning Point Christian Center, 1612 Oceanview Drive in Anchorage. Viewing will begin at 11 a.m., with a service starting at 12 p.m. Reverend Dr. Alonzo B. Patterson from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating. An account has been set up at First National Bank Alaska in the memory of Natasha Odom for the benefit of her five children: Routing # 125200060 Acct # 70749916. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Tasha's memory for the benefit of her five children's future education. Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and support.
