Nathan Lee Bordewick was born on Jan. 13, 1953, to Excelia and Franklin Mixsooke in Nenana, Alaska. He passed away too soon on July 11, 2017, at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. He was buried at Fort Richardson on Sept. 21, 2017, at noon, with military honors. Nathan's lifework was related to Indian Dance sobriety activities. He is survived by Donald (Sherry) Takak Jr. of Wylie, Texas; Reuben (Sharon) Mixsooke of Unalakleet, Alaska; Katherine Arca of Seward, Alaska; Laura Wilder of Anchorage; Karen Sue Whiskers of Blanding, Utah; and many nephews, nieces and friends. Nathan was predeceased by his natural parents and adopted parents, Jerry and Faye Bordewick; as well as siblings, Lloyd Takak, Raymond Charles Takak, Evelyn Routt, Rae Vaughan, Janice Mixsooke and Raymond Charles Mixsooke. His family would like to thank Galen Huntsman, his sobriety co-worker who helped select the correct emblems for his Coast Guard service to be embossed on his gravestone and the 40-plus honor guards who saluted him at his graveside.
