Nenita G. Jacinto, 78, passed away on May 14, 2018, surrounded by her family at the Providence Transitional Care Center. She was born in the Philippines on Dec. 30, 1939, to Senador P. Gabarda Sr., and Beatriz Osial. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1991, to begin a new chapter in life with her family.
She is survived by her siblings: Aida, Lillian, Rudy and Alex. She is also survived by her son, daughters and in-laws: Jozzie and Dan, Juvy and Ricardo, Jojo and Anne, Nene, and Joanne and Ben Hur. Lastly, she is survived by her many grandchildren, all of which she had such a major hand in raising. Her grandchildren include: Christopher, Gabrielle, Marc, Bianca, Joie Anne, Pauline, Ricardo Jr., Patricia Mae, Venessa, Dominique and Jessica.
When she arrived in Anchorage, she started work as a florist, and would often decorate houses and parties with bouquets as she liked. She had an easygoing later life as a food attendant at Sky Chefs. She was all about her family, as she cared for two full generations worth of children as their parents worked during the day. There wasn't a party attended where you couldn't look at the entire room and say to yourself, "Lola Nita raised almost everyone here." She was endlessly caring and patient to those around her, traits that most of her children and grandchildren proudly inherited. The day after Mother's Day, we all agreed that Earth had lost an angel.
Memorial services for Nenita will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., at the Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel in downtown Anchorage.
