Nina Renei Nelson, 58, died April 4, 2011, at Alaska Regional Hospital.

She was born May 17, 1952, in Montgomery, Ala.

Nina moved to Alaska in 1981 and became an Anchorage resident. She attended Anchorage Baptist Temple and also the Anchorage Church of God.

Some of her favorite things to do were gardening, camping, fishing, singing, dancing, cooking for family and going to aquariums.

Nina is survived by her children, Arthur Akins, Letrice Willingham, Andrew Thomas V, Anthony Thomas, Angeleina Thomas, Andria Thomas and Adrienne Thomas; son-in-law, Derrick Willingham; daughters-in-law, Megan Thomas and Michelle Akins; grandchildren, Dante Thomas, Andri Thomas, Donovan Thomas and Aliyah Dunbar; brothers, Glynn Nelson Jr., Michael Nelson, Michael Jerome, Tylan Merkerson, Tremain Merkerson and William Nelson; sisters, Selena Nelson, Jeanne Nelson, Angela Nelson and Rhonda Nelson; parents, Glynn Nelson Sr. and Emma Jean Hazzard; mother-in-law, Deborah Nelson; and husband, Robert Dubose.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Hoxie Nelson.

A service was Friday at Legacy Funeral Home's Bragaw Chapel, with burial afterward at Anchorage Memorial Park.
