Norman W. Crosby died peacefully from Berylliosis lung disease on Aug. 31, 2017, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska.
He was born in Wheat Ridge, Colo., in May 1940. He married Judy in 1960, and they spent 57 wonderful years together. They have three children, Linnea, Kenneth (Randy) with wife Marita, and Bonnie; and six grandchildren, Amanda with husband Tommy, Jennifer, Nick with wife Jacqueline, Samantha, Ashley and Sarah. This summer they added two great-granddaughters, Alana and Nora Jean.
Norman's dream of going to Alaska, inspired by his third grade teacher, was fulfilled in 1977, when the opportunity arose for him and his family to move to Alaska. The family enjoyed years of camping, fishing, winter activities and exploring.
After a career in data processing he retired and started a handyman business and built their current home in Palmer. Norman was a very energetic person who was always finding new avenues and ways of improving how things were used. Norman was appreciated by many in his willingness to teach and mentor.
After cremation, a private celebration of life will be held later by the family. Donations can be made to: Alaska Solstice Search Dogs, 2311 S. Carr St. Wasilla, AK 99654.
Arrangements are with Janssen's Mat-Su Funeral Home.
