Patricia Anne Buckingham of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2018, due to cancer-related complications.
Pat was known, loved and cherished by many. She was recognized as Mom, Gawa, Pat, Patricia Anne, Auntie, sister, daughter, friend and co-worker.
Despite her busy schedule and illness, Gawa was well known for being generous and available to listen to those needing assistance or advice.
Pat was devoted to her faith and loved sharing her knowledge. She taught her family to learn about Jehovah and to enjoy all that he had to offer. Our memories of her courage, love and faith will continue to strengthen us for years to come.
Patty put others at ease with her big, happy smile and sense of humor. People from all different backgrounds or cultures were naturally drawn to her. She was compassionate and easy to converse with. She loved talking about her faith, her little girl, her son and all the wonderful and fantastic grandchildren who reciprocated her love many times over. We will always remember Patricia Anne's creative meals and her industrious canning and food preservations. Her off-tune, fun singing voice, huge warm hugs and loud kisses will never be forgotten.
Pat loved to travel and make new friends around the world. She kept in touch with family and friends by postcards, notes and letters. When Gawa finally got a cell phone, these communications now included text messaging, cell phone calls, and even FaceTime and Skype. Whatever it took to stay connected to those she loved, Patty embraced the new ways and the old ways.
She wanted you to remember that you are loved; that you are special!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, 8800 Heritage Center Drive in Anchorage, at 2 p.m.
