Longtime Alaska resident Patricia Lee Kennedy, 77, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2017, at Providence Alaska Medical Center, surrounded by her beloved family.
Legacy Funeral Homes Kehl's Chapel will cremate her body and there will be no service, per her wishes.
Mrs. Kennedy was born on Aug. 7, 1940, in Los Angeles, Calif. Her parents were William and Dorothy Holloway. She graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1959. She met and married the father of her children, Wesley M. Kennedy Jr., later that year.
Mrs. Kennedy and her family moved up to Soldotna, Alaska, in June 1968, where they lived until moving to Sterling, Alaska, and then eventually back to Soldotna. Her last years were located in Anchorage, Alaska, so she "could help raise the grandkids up there." Definitely her most cherished treasures were her seven grandchildren.
Throughout her life, and particularly in retirement, she loved going to watch her kids and grandkids play sports, while always being their biggest fan. Her voice was distinct and always supportive, not only to her own kids, but also to all of the teammates and other kids that she knew, loved and encouraged. "Grandma Pat," as she was called, will certainly be missed at the ball fields and at courtside.
A most precious moment in her life was reuniting with her biological sister, Betty Wiand and her family, after 65 years of being separated. Spending time with Betty and her family members, James Sr., Pamela, Linda, Jamie and James Jr., were very special times for her.
She is survived by her four children and their families: son, John and wife Lin Kennedy of Soldotna; son, Rick and wife Yvonne Kennedy of Soldotna; son, Scott Kennedy of Anchorage; and daughter, Erin and husband Bob Andresen also of Anchorage. Her grandchildren, Jeff and Christa Kennedy, Erik, Amy and Jake Andresen, Cheyenne Kennedy and Cydney Norberg, also survive her. Special close friends include: Rhonda Needs, Joyce Eby, the McCowns and Guy and Judy Hayes.
Her parents, William and Dorothy Holloway; and sisters, Babara Dehnen and Betty Wiand, preceded her in death.
