Paul was born on July 26, 1915 in New Castle, Indiana. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1934 and attended Indiana University. Paul was affiliated with St. Mark's Episcopal Church, was the past president of ASMGA, a volunteer for the Women's Shelter in Arlington, Texas and for Providence Alaska Medical Center. Paul also volunteered as a mentor to elementary school students. He especially enjoyed playing golf.
Family states, "He was a kind and giving man, always wanting to help others in any way he could. He never knew a stranger and made many, many wonderful friends along the way. He gave freely of his time and felt a need to always help others in any way he could.
He moved from Arlington, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska in May of 2002 to live with his daughter and son-in-law. They feel so blessed to have had him with them. He missed his Texas family and friends but was always in awe of the beauty of Alaska. He so enjoyed looking out the windows and being able to see the mountains and commented on their beauty often.
He was the "glue" of the family and will be missed, but we know that he had a deep, abiding faith and he is at peace and in God's hands."
Paul is survived by his daughter Kay (Roger) Wolfinbarger, son Fred (Sylvia) Hastings; sister Martha Shaw; grandchildren Brett Hastings, Ginger Rucker, Nanette Snider, Eric Wolfinbarger, Dawn Hayes, and Jason Rohlf; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Emily, Erin, and Carter Snider, James, Bradley, Ava, Brandon, and Bryan Hastings, Joseph and Matthew Levine, Tara Rohlf, and Craig and Jake Hayes.
