Philip Kehl Obituary

Philip Dale Kehl Sr., 74, died on April 20, 2011, at his home, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., on Friday at 10 a.m. A service will follow at 11 a.m. Pallbearers include Phil Kehl Jr., Michael Kehl, Edward Kehl, Willis Bryant, Kenneth Davenport and Wallace Kuasnikof.

Philip was born on July 31, 1936. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and was a retired commercial fisherman and avid online poker player. He loved to be out fishing, but most of all loved being with his family.

His family wrote, "His family will be forever grateful for his strong and unselfish guidance, and the courage to live life to the fullest."

Survivors include his sons, Philip Dale Kehl Jr., Michael A. Kehl and his wife Donna, and Edward N. Kehl, all of Anchorage; daughters Robin A. Bryant and her husband, Willis, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Brenda J. Davenport and her husband, Ken, of Holt, Mich.; grandchildren, Walter, Bryson, Dennis and Marius Bryant, Christopher, Christina, Corrina and Chad Kehl, Stefani Mathena, Summer Kehl-Goughnour, Frieda, Stephanie, Tiffanie and Andrew Kehl and Brenden Davenport; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Danny Lee Kehl and Robert Kehl; and sister, Patricia Sticdorn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Mary Jean Kehl; five sisters; and five brothers.

The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Disabled Vets.
