Dick was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Feb. 5, 1935, to Theodore and Marietta Burgess. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie Shipp; and two brothers, Thomas and Robert Burgess.
Surviving family includes his sister, Daisy Tokheim; his wife, Janet; five children; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
He moved his family to Eagle River, Alaska, in August 1964, and spent his pre-retirement years teaching (elementary and high school), working for ARCO and in the wood shop on Fort Richardson.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle River where he served as Deacon, Song Leader and Sunday school teacher.
His family and friends mourn his passing, but rejoice in knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and waiting for the grand reunion when all God's children come home.
