Richard "Dick" Wayne Bales entered the welcoming arms of his Heavenly Father on Nov. 1, 2017. He was born on Feb. 8, 1942, to Clyde and Loretta Bales in Akron, Ohio.
Richard's greatest passion was his Lord Jesus Christ and telling others about Him. He also loved his job as a contractor. His many handiworks are scattered across Anchorage, many Alaska villages and Indiana. Many of his majestic homes were featured in Alaska Home magazine.
At a young age, Richard felt God calling him to Alaska. In 1974, he drove his family up the Alcan, where he was the pastor of Apostolic Pentecostal Church for several years. His family was his biggest joy and he led them through life with the utmost love. He was a true patriarch - a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Judy, for 55 years. He guided his family in their spiritual walk with the Lord, built them amazing homes and spoiled his grandchildren. Richard was extremely proud of his four children and would brag about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. His sons-in-law and daughter-in-law would tell you he treated them as his own.
He is survived by the love of his life, Judy; sister, Diana (Patrick) Thomas of Maryland; children, Cindy (Bill) Sims of North Carolina, Kim (Robert) McDaniel of Alaska, Christy (Ron) Branch of Washington, and Tim (Carla) Bales of Paris and Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents; and sister, Frances Eddy.
The glow in his eyes came from his grandchildren - Tara (BJ), Miles, Aubrey (Austin), Briana, Austin (Kirsten), Dakota, Sierra, Alexia, Shelby, Justin and Caleb - and his five great-grandchildren.
Richard requested we rejoice at his going home so we invite you to celebrate with us on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at 4 pm., at First Assembly of God, 1540 C Street. Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
