Robert "Bob" E. Berna, 75, passed away peacefully at his Anchorage, Alaska, home on Sept. 12, 2017, due to complications associated with brain cancer. Robert was born on June 4, 1942, in Rosholt, Wis. He moved to Alaska in 1969, living in Anchorage from then on. He worked for many business including Spenard Builders Supply, Earth Movers SeaLand, Horizon Lines and CSX. He retired from CSX in 2003.
Robert enjoyed hunting, flying, working on his Model A., gardening, fishing and spending time at the cabin. He was a member of AOPA, American Legion, Grand Igloos Pioneers of Alaska, Model A Ford Club and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Co-Cathedral. Bob will be remembered as always being ready with a helping hand.
Robert is survived by his wife, JoAnn Berna; daughter, Julie Pierce (James); son, Bryan Berna (Colette); granddaughter, Gabrielle Pierce; brother, Dennis Berna (Delores); and sister, Phyllis Berna; along with many nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Frances Berna.
There will be a service for Robert on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Co-Cathedral, 3900 Wisconsin Street in Anchorage, beginning at 1 p.m. Father Vincent Blanco will be officiating the service. A Reception will be held following the Mass, at the Lunney Center.
Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
