Ruth Hannah Qutnguq Davis Seetot, 78, passed away on Jan. 1, 2016, at Alaska Native Medical Center. Ruth was born on March 22, 1937, in Shishmaref, Alaska, to Fred and Harriet Avessuk Davis. Ruth was a lifelong Alaskan who lived all throughout Alaska, including places like Cordova, Fairbanks, Kotzebue and finally Anchorage. Ruth was employed by a number of places throughout her life, she spent time working as a matron for the jail in the 1960s. In the 1970s, she worked for NSHC hospital in their housekeeping department. In the 1980s, she was a bilingual transcriber for the Nome Eskimo Community. Ruth was a devoted member of the Alaska Native Lutheran Church. She had many hobbies including sewing, beading, knitting, camping and berry picking. She loved eating subsistence native foods with her family and friends, and traveling to Nome, Shishmaref and Brevig Mission whenever she could. Her family writes: Ruth loved telling stories using her great sense of humor and laughter. Ruth was well liked by all her friends and relatives and had a great personality. She was accepting and understanding to all. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her. Ruth is survived by her brothers, David H. Davis, Fred Davis Jr. and Ronald Davis; sister, Stella (Kim) Ningeulook; her children, Harriet (Everett) Cutshall, Grace (Mike) Minix, Sheryl (Curtis) Nayokpuk, Johnathan Eagle, Ruth Elizabeth Wade, Sarah Ellen (Clint) Colpo, Robbie (Nancy) Ningeulook, Brenda Ann Wright, Elmer G. Seetot and Hattie L. Wright; and granddaughter, Lesley Z. Wright. Ruth is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Seetot; parents, Fred and Harriet Davis; brothers, Johnathan, Fred Davis Jr., Coolidge and Douglas "Bobby" Davis; sisters, Flora and Kiatcha Davis; daughter, Winona Davis; granddaughter, Denecia Lynn Seetomona; and grandsons, Preston Robin Ningeulook and Fredrick Douglas "Bookish" Nayokpuk. A funeral service will take place on Feb. 11, 2016, at Alaska Native Lutheran Church, 1420 Cordova St., Anchorage, AK 99501, at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery at 3 p.m. A potluck will be held following Ruth's burial. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
