Long time Alaska resident Sharlene "Sherry" Diane Lipscomb Morris passed away at her home surrounded by family members on July 23, 2017.
Sherry, as everyone called her, was born on Oct. 23, 1951, to her parents Golden Lipscomb and Evelyn Satterfield Johnson in Parkersburg, W.Va. Sherry first came to Alaska, with her parents, in 1959, when she was 8 years old. She loved Alaska, especially the ocean and always tried to live nearby. She was a dreamer and through her many adventures, she worked in the canneries in Cordova and Seward, Alaska, and even San Diego, Calif. She lived in Kona, Hawaii, for a short time, but always came home to Alaska. For the last 45 years she drove cab in Fairbanks, Alaska, and when her daughter asked her what she wanted to be remembered by, she said: "Iwant to be known as a cab driver."
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Tina Christoffersen; grandson, Arin Hanohano; granddaughter, Kyana Christoffersen; great-grandson, Stryker Hanohano; sister, Penny (Jimmy) Toston; and half-brother, Jimmy (Nancy) Dennis; nephews, Kevin Dennis, Corey Toston and Joshua Toston; and nieces, Fawn Gross and Jennifer Mahachek. She was preceded in death by her parents; and half-brother, Roger Lipscomb.
At Sherry's request, her ashes will be spread over Kachemak Bay with family members attending. A memorial service will be set at a later date to be determined.
