Sharon Lee Tomblinson, 76, passed away at home after a brief illness on Jan. 8, 2018, with family by her side. Sharon was born on May 20, 1941, to Mary and John Patterson in Dayton, Ohio.
Sharon moved to Anchorage, Alaska, with her parents in August 1941. From 1941-1948, winters were spent on the Yentna River with her parents on a trap line and the summer months were spent in Anchorage.
In 1948, she and her family settled in Anchorage. Sharon attended Anchorage High School and graduated in 1959.
It wasn't long after graduation that she married and had two children. Sharon worked for Anchorage Telephone Utility and retired after many years of service in the IBEW Union 1547. At that time she took interest in crocheting and knitting. Sharon crocheted and knitted blankets for family and friends, and she would make blankets to take to the local hospitals for extended care patients. She enjoyed spending time at the local thrift stores finding the best bargains.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Mary Patterson; her children, Ronald Tomblinson and Deborah Franklin; grandchildren, Keira Boles, Veronica Tomblinson, Andrew, Amanda and Alexander Franklin; sister, Sue Foley; brother, Mike Patterson; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Athena.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Patterson.
Sharon will truly be missed by those who had the privilege to know her. A remembrance of life to spread her ashes will take place at a later time for family and friends. Donations can be made to ASPCA, in lieu of flowers, at 3710 Woodland Drive, Anchorage, AK 99503.
