"If you choose to soar in life, you will soar forever."
Stuart Grant Ramstad took his last flight on March 3, 2018. He leaves behind his companion, best friend and wife of 42 years, Wendy Ramstad.
As an Alaskan Bush Pilot and owner of The Little Mulchatna Lodge in Lake Clark National Park, Stu shared the wonders of a true Alaskan life with all of us.
His adventures flying, fishing, hunting and traveling the world were the basis of his legendary story telling. If you were fortunate to join him at his wilderness dinner table you would be regaled in his knowledge of the history and the beauty of his Alaska with laughter, love and a lifetime of memories.
He left us all with the gift of a life well lived and the love and respect from all who knew him.
His greatest love was his treasured family and lifelong friends, too many to mention.
He leaves behind his children, Diana, David and Ronald Ramstad; his grandchildren, Janelle, Shayla and Calvin; and four precious great-grandchildren; his brothers, Phillip Ramstad (Sue), Mike Szymanski (Sheelah), Collin Szymanski, Frances Szymanski and Duncan Szymanski (Jean); and sister, Rosie Szymanski. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and his godchildren, Michele Dodge Wall and Michael Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Ramstad; his sister, Loretta Homan; brother, Joel Ramstad Jr.; and parents, Joel Ramstad and Jean Ramstad Szymanski; and niece, Kierin Habermann.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of blessings, prayers and love that have been shared during this time. Our special thanks to Sandi Hodges for her love and support during this difficult time and to Betty Vehrs and Wasilla Hospice for their kindness. A celebration of life will be held later this spring.
