Susan M. (Rowley) Vancil, 68, passed away at home on Aug. 24, 2017, after a decade-long battle with cancer. During the last several weeks, she was visited and comforted by her family members and adoring friends, many of whom she referred to as her "Sistas."
She is survived by longtime partner in life, "Fast" Fred Nienkark; her son, Jaymen M. Lloyd and his wife, Lindsay A. Lloyd and their daughters, Hailey, Stephanie, Madison, Taylor and Lauren; and her brother, James P. Rowley Jr. and wife, Mary H. Rowley of Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, James P. Rowley Sr. and Priscilla A. Rowley, both of Napa, Calif.
Her brother said, "No one could bring happiness into a room like my beautiful sister, Suzi."
She is remembered as the dominate joyful spirit among her large family and many friends. Forty-five family members, including six of her eight cousins, her three nephews and her niece, gathered in Lafayette, Calif., in mid-May 2017, to celebrate her love-filled life.
She was a native of Napa, Calif., born July 2, 1949, and graduated from Napa High School in 1967. She resided in Anchorage, Alaska, since 1980, working as an accountant for several Alaska firms and the University of Alaska. She was a member of Job's Daughters Bethel 185, serving a term as Honored Queen, and Order of The Eastern Star, Chapter 59, both of Napa, Calif. She was a member of the American Legion Post 1, AMVETS Post 49 and the Moose Lodge 139, all of Anchorage.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at the Moose Lodge, 4211 Arctic Blvd, Anchorage, AK 99503. Private services will also be held in Napa at a later date.
