Thomas Mellott, amazing father, husband, grandfather and friend, left this earth far too soon on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in an unfortunate hunting accident. Tom was born in Kingman, Ariz., on Oct., 17, 1964, to Vernon and Elsie Mellott, but found his way to Alaska shortly after meeting the love of his life, Shelly, in 1989. Tom and his family lived in Alaska for 22 years, before moving to Texas in 2013, to be closer to family and his "little buddy" and grandson, Hayden.
Tom had two passions in life: the outdoors and his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, snowmachining and camping with his family at the cabin they built together where many precious memories were made. Tom never met a stranger, and in turn leaves behind many friends in Arizona, Alaska, and Texas. Tom was a very selfless man, and would drop anything he was doing to help those in need. He was truly generous with his time and talents, and always made sure the people he loved were taken care of before himself.
When Tom wasn't spending time with his family, hunting or fishing, he could have been found hard at work operating equipment in the construction and trucking industry both in Alaska and Texas. He drove trucks for much of his life in Alaska - traveling from the Kenai Peninsula to the icy roads of Prudhoe Bay.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Elsie "Jonanne" Mellott; and his father-in-law, Jim Stanley.
Tom is survived by his wife, Shelly Mellott; daughters, Amanda Mellott and Aimee Copadis; son-in-law, Alex Copadis; grandson, Hayden Copadis; and his three sisters, Gwen, Sherry and Kathy.
