Tommy Copelin, known to friends as "Tom," passed away on Jan. 23, 2018, he was 69 years old. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ellen; sister, Ann (Kenneth) Billington; sons, Chad (Destiny) and John (Heather); and daughter, Kathy (Dave) Barney. Grandpa Tom will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His faithful canine companion, Tuffi, will be forever looking around the room for him.
Tom was born and raised in Alaska. Tom spent many years traveling the state of Alaska, working, hunting and raising a family in the place he called home. Tom was in the National Guard from February 1966 to June 1974, Sgt. E 6 SHARPshooter Armor Crewman. Tom was a skilled heavy machine operator and shared his affinities with those he loved most. Tom was a master woodmaker, displaying his craftsmanship in his cabinets and woodwork all over his homes. His greatest masterpiece was his family. Tom was proud of his family; he was always the helping hand. No project was too big to help with when it came to the ones he cared for. Tom was most recent employed with the City of Houston as Public Works Director.
