William (Bill) Nicholas Dougherty, 75 of Anchorage, Alaska and Sun City West, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Arizona surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on August 3, 1938 in Wyoming, Michigan. Bill was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Delores Dawn Dougherty, they have two children Kela (Christopher) Halfmann and Mark (Catherine) Dougherty. They also have six grandchildren - Kaia, Tara (William Cruz), Charla (Enerio Rodriguez), Jesse, Brett and Alex - and seven great grandchildren - Asia, De'ajah, Delmahni, Maryelle, Javier, Maico and Alvina.

He was preceded in passing by his father and mother, Clarence and Anna Marie Dougherty; sister Patrcia Koeber and Terrance Dougherty. Bill is survived by his sister Elizabeth Price; and brothers Lewis and Arlin Dougherty.
Bill served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. After his service, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Electronics Technician from 1962 until his retirement in 1993. Bill transferred to Alaska 1964 with the FAA, and the family lived in Farewell, King Salmon and Anchorage, Alaska.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement, he travelled the world with his wife visiting many countries on each of the 7 continents.
A celebration of Bill's full life will be held at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church in Sun City West, AZ. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, Bill wished for any donations be made to the memorial fund in his name at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church to be distributed to his charities.
