William Edgar "Bill" Humphries, 64, formerly of Eagle River/Chugiak, Alaska, died on Jan. 20, 2018, at his home near McKenna, Wash. He was born on Feb. 28, 1953, in Little Rock, Ark.
He held a bachelor's degree in environmental management from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and a master's degree in watershed management from Utah State University. A registered professional geologist, his early career was with engineering companies in Arkansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. Moving to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1996, he was employed by several Alaska Native Corporations. Most recently he was employed by Kuskokwim Corp. and moved to Washington in 2014.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kay Engstrom Humphries; son, John Eric Humphries of New Haven, Conn.; and daughter, Lea (Andy) Harmon and grandson Tommy of Bend, Ore.
