John R. McLin Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2014 at home in Anchorage, Alaska with family by his side. He moved to Alaska in 1954 with his wife, Ruth, and children. John worked as a meat cutter for several years then built his own meat processing plant for beef and wild game. John and Ruth called it Muldoon Lockers. John sold the business in the late 60s and then retired, so he thought. He helped his boys in their business, McLin Contractors, doing the books and picking up loose ends. John fully retired in 1995. He spent his time planting flowers and bushes and had one of the nicest yards in the neighborhood. John had a priceless love for his late wife Ruth and his family. He was a drill instructor for the Marine Corp and he raised his kids as recruits. They survived and always knew they were loved. In July of 2013 he was rebaptized and accepted the lord as his savior, strengthening his relationship with God who left him here long enough to know he would make Heaven home. John would like everyone to stop and take a minute to think if they have things right with God. John is survived by his daughter, Shirley Jean Gabel (Jerry), son John R. McLin Jr. (Salley), son James T. McLin (Margie), and son Joseph C. McLin along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be truly missed. As Pops always said, "God Bless."
