Faipauna Tagaloa Emile Fanene passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 at Providence Alaska Medical Center, at the age of 63.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born to the late Leafu Tauati Fanene and Lautalia Mase on Sunday, July the 22nd, 1951 in Satitoa Aleipata, Samoa. He was the last child of their union.
Faipauna's life was a fulfilled one! Beginning with his roots, he lived the standard life of a Samoan boy. Achieving level 4 of a Secondary school in Samoa, equivalent to that of a trade school. Taking his skills to New Zealand where he worked as a Welder from 1970-1978. In that time also finding the love of his life, Saofa'i (Sophie) Futi! Moving back home to Samoa in 1979, he started his own taxi service, and bus route. With a great want in him to provide better for his family, he moved to Anchorage, AK in 1981. After falling in love with this great state, and being the Matai (Head Chief) of the family, he was determined to bring his mother and extended family from the islands to embrace his new found home.
He was a founding father of the Anchorage, Alaska, Samoan Seventh-Day Adventist Church, embarking the work in 1993. Retiring in 1998, wanting to be devoted and committed to this ministry. He obtained the position of Held Elder, and maintained that title for many years! After receiving a calling from the Lord in the spring of 2012 to start a new work in Juneau, he took an unwavering leap of faith, saying "Lead me lord, and I'll follow!"
Throughout his ministry, he has touched the lives of many, and acquired the respect of many religious leaders in the Samoan community. If there is anything he would be remembered by, is that he was a very devout man of God!
