Mitch, 15, of Anchorage, went to be with the Lord. Mitch was a 9th Grade student at South Anchorage High School where he was an active member of the Junior ROTC program and an Honor Roll student. With the JROTC, he was a proud member of the competitive Drill Team, involved in physical fitness challenges and recently earned the JROTC Air Force Recruiters Citizenship Award. He was also a Boy Scout with Troop 26, earning Star Rank. His passions included hiking, fishing (especially dip-netting), cross-country running, kayaking, camping, computers, playing the trumpet, and his dog Scout. Last summer he hiked the Chilkoot Trail with his brother, father and fellow Boy Scouts. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time around the camp fire telling stories, and volunteering to help others. Last June he caught a huge Sturgeon in Idaho's Snake River and was so proud of his biggest catch. Mitch enjoyed a life rich with friends, family and love. He'll be remembered for his independent spirit and a beautiful grin that could light up a room. He will be deeply missed.
