Anchorage resident, Willie Brown Sr., 89, passed away on April 20, 2014 at Providence Alaska Medical Center. He was born on October 17, 1924 in Bessemer, Alabama and became a resident in 1950.
A public visitation will be held on April 26, 2014, 11am-12pm, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 855 E. 20th Ave. A service will be held immediately after the visitation. Reverend Alanzo B. Patterson will be officiating the service. Pallbearers consist of Robert Brown, Xavior Brown, Willie L. Brown Jr., Stephen Fields, Willie Thornton, and Ted Queen. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.

Willie was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Promise Keepers Men's Ministry and was an Operative Plasters & Cement Mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and gardening as well.

The family would like to state, "Willie Brown affectionately known as ""Heydoc"" to his family was a strong, compassionate, and giving husband, father, and grandfather. He was connected to the community through his work as a cement mason and his active participation through his church. He took special pride in the upbringing of his family with Christian values. He will be truly missed and remembered by family, friends, and those he has touched throughout his life.""
Willie is survived by his daughter Rev. Vickie Casey; son Willie L. Brown Jr.; grandchildren Robert Brown, Xavior Brown, and Dejah Brown; daughters-in-law Keely Brown and Stacey Brown; great-grandchildren Zenea Brown, Cassandra Josey, Candace Josey, Danica Phillips, Sierra Brown, Sydney Brown, Jarren Brown, and Aamira Brown; and great-great-grandchildren Amiya Mikes, Zayden Brown, and Brayden Doerner. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Catherine Brown; Cousin Teresa Brown; and brothers Elmore Brown and Robert Brown.

Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
