Simeon O. Balamoutoff, age 85, passed away at Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, AK, on July 21, 2014. Simeon was born February 9, 1929, in Belkofski, AK to Annie Tcheripanoff and lived in Sand Point and Anchorage, AK. He was a commercial salmon fisherman and also worked on the pipeline. He loved being with his family and his friends. He was always humble and enjoyed telling stories. Simeon was always bringing a smile on the faces of those around him. Simeon is survived by his wife Alice Balamoutoff; his children Simeon Dushkin, Barbara Dicus, Loretta Clayton, Phyllis Bovee, and Orson Balamoutoff all of Anchorage; his siblings Victor Dushkin, Gene Dushkin, Mattie Osterback, Paul Tcheripanoff, and Macar; his grandchildren Simeon Dushkin Jr., Victor Dushkin, Adrian Walker, Dakota Walker, Ila Skore, Leila Mitchell, Roy Clayton III, Desiree Montalbo, Ryan Clayton, Justina Newman, Jamie Yatchmeneff, Daniel Bovee, and Samuel Bovee; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Matron Balamoutoff; son Oscar Balamoutoff; and daughter Lucille May Balamoutoff. Simeon was greatly loved by all of his family and will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held at St. Innocent's Russian Orthodox Church, 401 Turpin Street, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 12 p.m with a service to follow at 1 p.m. Simeon will be laid to rest at the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. A potluck will be held immediately after at St. Innocent's. Arrangements were by Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
