She began her working career as a Home Economics teacher before changing careers to become a Clinical Dietician. Evelyn did diabetic counseling at Virginia Mason Clinic in Seattle for many years.
Evelyn moved to Alaska in her later years to be with her family. The picture of her shown here was taken on her 92nd birthday in 2009. Evelyn's lifelong passion for learning, science, gardening, arts, equal rights, and family strongly influenced those around her. She worked tirelessly for The League of Women Voters, Planned Parenthood, and the Democratic Party. She was active in the Unitarian Church and her investment clubs.
Evelyn was a warm, sunny person with a zest for life. She loved holidays and celebrating them with family and friends. She enjoyed dying Easter eggs as much as her youngest grandchild. She loved sing-a longs and Christmas carols. She was very proud to have four generations of cellists in the family. She was always energetically involved - swimming, hiking, sledding, skiing, berry picking, gardening - in her late 80's she was distressed that she could no longer climb her fruit trees to prune them!
She is survived by: her daughter Marya and son-in law Garnett Morrow Sr., grandchildren Kolena Momberger, Salena Anthony, and Garnett Morrow Jr., great grandchildren Thorin, Kyle, Nichole, Zachary, Colter, and Arnan, and great- great granddaughter Liberty.
A memorial service and celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Chapel on 7th and E Street, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Planned Parenthood.
