Jim Marris of Anchorage passed away Tuesday September 10, 2013 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, James; daughter, Cyndi; grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher, Jackson and Max; brother, Paul, and sisters, Jane and Pat.
Jim grew up in New Jersey where he would meet his wife Shirley. Jim joined the Air Force where he served as a medic for 8 years. He attended Heald Engineering College in California where he obtained a BS in architecture. He returned to Alaska in 1973 and worked with communities throughout Alaska. Jim designed many housing developments, medical centers and recreational facilities. He understood and respected Alaskan cultures and worked hard bringing those elements into his designs. He enjoyed the time he spent with the many individuals he encountered. In 2012 he retired from Karluk Design, Inc.
Jim became an active member at an athletic club where he was known for the term "going to the Huff n Puff". He enjoyed riding and shop time with his motorcycles and cars. Jim appreciated specialized bikes, classic cars and different genres of music including local music performances.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1612 Oceanview Drive in Anchorage at 2:00 p.m. on September 14, 2013.
