Kimberley Denise Kornfeind, 56, passed away October 13, 2013 at home in Palmer Alaska. A service will be held Saturday October 19, 2013 at The United Protestant Church (Church of a Thousand Logs) on S. Denali and Elmwood St. in Palmer at 3 P.M. There will also be a Celebration of Life and Potluck at the Elks Lodge #1842 on N. Barrys Resort Dr. in Wasilla at 5 P.M. on Saturday. Any memorial donations may be sent to: 693 W. Kimberley was born December 4, 1956 in Bakersfield, California to Russell and Audrey Blain. The family moved to Anchorage in 1958 and Kimberley graduated from Dimond High School there. She married the love of her life and best friend David Kornfeind in September 1979 and they moved to Palmer where they resided ever since. Kimberley was a retired Certified Nurse's Aide which, with the great compassion she had for people was her perfect job.
Kimberley loved spending time with family and grandchildren, cooking, gardening and loved to travel. Her family wrote "Kim was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was full of grace, beauty and had the ability to light up any room she walked into. She was a true Alaskan who loved all the beauty of the State. She had a great compassion for people and all animals. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends."
She is survived by husband, David Kornfeind, Palmer; daughters: Ashley Kornfeind (Justin McMullin), Anchorage; Lindsay Henderson, Palmer; grandchildren: Bayley Sandvik, Anchorage; Dayton Henderson, Palmer; sister and brother in laws: Pam and Don LaRose, Washington; Sidney and Jack Colwell, Arizona; stepfather, Jack Osborn, Arizona. Preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Christopher Blain, and cousin, Su Gierermann.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
