Patricia Lee Steward Willhite Goodnight finally won her battle with recurrent breast cancer on Wed., Oct. 30, 2013 by going to her Heavenly home in the arms of Jesus.

She was born to Ethel Clara Jones and Carl Pierce Steward of Portland, OR on Aug. 19, 1934. In 1951 she moved to Anchorage, AK with her father, where she met and married Clarence A. Willhite in 1955. They have 3 children. Pat was an active member in church and enjoyed ceramics, for which she was a certified Duncan instructor.

After years of working for the State of Alaska Health Dept., Dept. of Fish and Game and Department of Transportation, she retired in 1981. In 1988, she went to work for America West Airlines in Arizona, enjoying the traveling benefits it afforded. While there, she met and married Jack Goodnight.

In 1996 Pat was diagnosed with breast cancer and was successfully treated at the Mayo Clinic. In 2005, the same cancer was found to have metastasized to her lungs and bones. She moved to Texas where her daughter, Vicki, also a breast cancer survivor, could give her the support she would need. The nationally acclaimed oncologist, Dr. Pippen of Texas Oncology at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, through a wise course of treatments expected to give her another 2-3 years, through God, was able to add 8 wonderful years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a younger sister, Maxine Harter Hawkins; husband, Jack Goodnight; and great granddaughter, Morgan Davis. She is survived by younger sister, Carla (Donald) Plessman of Casper, WY; her children, Vicki (Joe) Sims of Corsicana, TX; Bonnie (Merle) Shugart of Baton Rouge, LA; and Scott (Allison) Willhite of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren, Kristi (Joe) Chandler, Aaron Sims, Scott (Cindy) Shugart, Amanda Shugart, Andrew (Heather) Shugart, Kyle McAfee; five great grandchildren, Alex Davis; Cassidy, Elizabeth and Emma Shugart, and Reagan Shugart.
