Jean Peterson passed away February 4, 2014, in Eugene, Oregon. She was 85 years old.
Jean was the Financial Deputy for many years for the U. S. District Court in Anchorage. She was also very involved in many other endeavors as a volunteer in an effort to serve her community because she loved Alaska. She always considered Alaska her home despite growing up and living in other states.
In 1985, she and her husband, Jack "Coach Pete" Peterson, retired to Eugene, Oregon, where she stayed busy with her daughter, nieces, nephew, and four grand-nephews. Typical of Jean, she also formed many close friendships with people she met in Eugene.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack Peterson, and her sister. She is survived by her daughter, Patrice, and by the already mentioned nieces and nephews.
She will be cremated with a scattering of her ashes into the Cook Inlet by her daughter sometime this summer.
