I met Susan years ago. She was a wonderful, engaging and friendly personality with a keen interest in people and I really enjoyed our talks as we both waited to catch the bus into campus each morning. She was a special person who met life's challeges with great courage and humor. I'm very sad to hear of her passing and very sorry for her family's loss.

Susan was a welcome, caring presence here in the religion department at the University of Florida. We remember her fondly as a disciplined student and conscientious teacher. I enjoyed having her as a student in my classes.

Dear Ms. Lewis' Family, I am so sorry for your loss and wanted to express my condolences, our heavenly father knows the pain you are going through, he assures us that he will come to our aid and he is “healing the broken hearted ones” - Psalm 147:3. As a fellow educator I wanted to share a Bible verse at Romans 2:20 that speaks to Susan's beautiful legacy “as a teacher of young ones having the framework of knowledge to guide and illuminate;” may your cherish memories be a healing force of strength for you to draw on, lean on your loves ones and our heavenly Father's ability to strengthen you during the days ahead.
With deepest sympathy I share your sorrow
