Gladys Copen
LANGLEY, SC - Mrs. Gladys Copen, 88, wife of the late Pastor Marshall Copen, entered into rest on Monday, August 29th, 2016.
Born in West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jacob E. and Alma Richmond Cottle. She and her late husband, Pastor Marshall Copen, came to Aiken County, SC, in 1977, when he was called to Pastor the former Langley Church of the Nazarene, now Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Copen was a very active member of Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene, until her health began to decline and the Copen Sunday School Class, that was named for her late husband and herself. She took pride in keeping her home neat and pristinely clean and enjoyed hosting family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, family members include children, Donald E. Copen and his wife, Carol, Irmo, SC and Marcia Looman and her husband, Scott, North Augusta, SC; grandchildren, Alan Copen, Brian Looman, Britni McKinney, Amanda Gunter, Elizabeth Looman, Tina Looman and the late Michelle Copen and great-grandchildren, Carter Looman, Aidan Looman, Jackson McKinney, Lily Copen and Ethan Copen.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016, from 5 until 7 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 1st, 2016, at 11 o'clock at Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Members of the Copen Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
If so desired, memorials may be made to Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene. (www.mvnazarene.org)
