PELION, SC - CSM. Alvin J. Nidiffer, age 84, of Pelion, SC entered into rest on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was the son of the late Allen L. Nidiffer and Jessie Lee Paul Nidiffer of Parkersburg, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Margaret T. Daniel Nidiffer, Pelion, SC, a daughter, Nina J. Nidiffer, Graniteville, SC, sisters, Mauhee Nidiffer, Eccles, WV, Clautee Nagle, Houston, TX and Margaret Ann Matthews, Montgomery, IL and brothers, William Carl Nidiffer, Parkersburg, WV and A.D. Nidiffer, San Diego, CA. He is survived by his sisters Marie Terry, Parkersburg, WV, Bobbie J. Schiazza, Vienna, WV and his children
Annette (Bob) Downing, Graniteville, SC Elena (Pat) Nidiffer, Aiken, SC and Alvin J. Nidiffer, Jr., Pelion, SC.
He was born in Roda, VA and grew up in Eccles, WV. He graduated from Trap Hill High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1949 and served 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired at Ft. Jackson, Columbia, SC. He then worked and retired from the SC Dept. of Corrections in Columbia, SC. He loved his Family and his Country. He and his wife rescued and raised many dogs, cats, birds and other animals in need.
Memorials in his honor may be made to the SPCA, Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.A private service will be held by his Family.
