Barbara Joan "Joanie" French
LEXINGTON, SC - Barbara Joan "Joanie" French, 51, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Joanie was born on February 11, 1963 in Aiken, SC and was the daughter of Franklin and Frances June Young. She was a long time employee of Love Chevrolet Company. Her professionalism and determination to do the job right and to the best of her ability were greatly respected and appreciated by everyone she worked with.
Joanie loved living on the lake. Until the cancer made it too painful, she enjoyed the weekends on the water with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Harold French; son, James R. Wood, Jr.; daughter, Samantha Joan Wood (Fiance;, Ryan Shealy); step-sons, Justin (Karen) French, Brian (Halsey) French all of Lexington, SC; sisters, Vonnie (David) Savoy, Renee (Monty) Boatwright and brother, Ricky (Theresa) Young, all of Aiken, SC as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Over the last five years, we have been blessed with loving care and help from both sides of the family and for that we are eternally grateful.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Lexington, 415 Barr Road, Lexington, SC with burial to follow at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC.
We would like to thank the following for their loving care and devotion to Joanie during her illness: Dr. Vijaya Korrapati and the entire staff of Lexington Oncology; all of the nurses and staff of the 8th Floor Oncology at Lexington Medical and last but not least, all of the pharmacists and staff at Rite Aid in Lexington.
