Beatrice Mance
TRENTON - Mrs. Beatrice "Ma Bea" Adams Johnson Mance, entered into rest November 5, 2017 at the age 95.
Beatrice attended school in Edgefield County, SC. At Bettis Academy Junior College, she graduated as an honor student in the class of 1945. She acquired her Bachelor of Science degree from Allen University in Columbia, SC and further graduate studies from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, SC. She taught school in Edgefield County for 33 years. After retirement, she was dedicated to helping raise her grandchildren.
In 1946, Beatrice was joined in holy matrimony to the late Louis Johnson and remained in this union until his death in January 1964. From this union four children were born. One, Minnie Elaine Johnson Benson preceded her in death. In 1967, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Robert Mance and remained in this union until his death in 1988. From this union she acquired five children. One, Annette Mance McCain preceded her in death.
She was an active member of Mount Canaan Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Sunday School Teacher, a Senior Choir member, and on the Deaconess Board. Even in a care facility, she continued to love and adore praise and worship services.
She leaves to cherish many warm and precious memories her children: Beatrice Louise (Rev. Walter R.) Scott, Tippi H. Johnson, Johnnelle (Lawrence) Bing, Curtis (Irene) Mance, Jean Mance Mosley, Doris Mance Ritter, LaVerne Mance Justice; siblings, Earlene Scurry, Rosa Lee Mosley, Johnny Lue (Otis) Yeldell, and Willie Heyward (Frances) Adams; brother-in-law, William H. Ray; sister-in-law, Earnestine Hall Johnson; two devoted sons-in-law, William Reynolds and Thomas McCain; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Mount Canaan Baptist Church with the Rev. G. L. Brightharp officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Mount Canaan Baptist Church, 2451 Edgefield Road, Trenton, SC 29847 in her honor. Friends may call and visit the residence of her daughter, Bea (Rev. Walter) Scott, 1991 Edgefield Road, Trenton, SC from 4-7 p.m.
