Betty Chisholm Byrne
COLUMBIA - Born May 29, 1916 in Cleveland Ohio, Betty Byrne was blessed by God with 101 years of life until her peaceful death on October 8, 2017. She was predeceased by loving husband Frank J. Byrne in 2008 to whom she was married for 64 years. She was also predeceased by her sister Janet Klenk. She is survived by sons Dr. William J. Byrne (Judi Wald) of Portland, Oregon and Rev. Robert T. Byrne (Christine M. Byrne, her dearest and best friend) of Aiken, South Carolina, grandsons Michael J. Byrne (Saioa Velez Manso), of San Francisco, California, Steven T. Byrne of South Lake Tahoe, California, great grandson Aaron John Byrne of San Francisco, California, nephews Terry Klenk of Gainesville, Florida and James Klenk (Robin) and their children Shane, Morgan and McKenzie of Mansfield, Ohio. Betty loved life with her family. She traveled extensively with her husband Frank in and outside the United States and attended numerous sports events both amateur and professional. She had deep respect for the Benzie Rice Estate and the quality of life she experienced in the community through the care of its employees from June of 2004 until her death. She admired the entire staff and thought of many as her friends. Her funeral is at 2:00 pm on October 18, 2017 in the Community Room of the Arbor Center of the Rice Estate, 100 Finley Rd., Columbia SC. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Foundation of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, South Carolina 29063.
