JACKSON, SC - Funeral Services for Mrs. Ledora Elizabeth "Betty" Broome McDonald, 84, of Jackson, SC, who entered into rest December 19, 2015, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald was a native of Kathwood, attended the Kathwood School and graduated with Honors from North Augusta High School.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and had been actively involved with United Methodist Church activities most of her adult life.
Mrs. McDonald had a distinguished career as a federal civil servant with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration, having received various awards and commendations. In 1986, she retired from the Aiken Social Security Office as a Claims Representative.
Her hobbies included shell collecting and gardening as well as travel especially to Edisto Beach with her family. Family and Friends were of greatest importance to her. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas G. and Myrtis Spires Broome, her husband, Leonard Dwight McDonald, four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Vernie and Nataliya Chandler, III, Ansbach, Germany, Thomas and Mo Chandler, Waterloo, SC, Joseph and Deidra Chandler, Sr., Jackson and John McDonald, Suwanee, GA; four daughters, Carol and Russell Jenna, Phoenix, AZ, Esther and Don Hill and Delores and Collis Still, all of Barnwell, SC and Sheryl and John Boerger, Moriarty, NM; five grandchildren, Tommy Chandler, Ashley Chandler-Wright, Sarah Navarrete, Joey Chandler and Katerine Chandler; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
