WINDSOR, SC - Funeral services for Betty Stephens Speed, 82, of Windsor, SC will be held 11 a.m. on September 16, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Windsor, SC with the Reverend Lee Clamp officiating; burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in New Ellenton, SC. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Surrounded by her loved ones, Betty passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015.
Born in Westminster, SC she was the loving daughter of the late Albert and Florence Stephens and was married to the late Arthur Speed for 49 years. Betty was preceded in death by her son Ray Speed, her great-granddaughter Whitney Tucker and her sister, Evelyn Wilbanks. She is survived by her daughters Jean (Jimmy) Faircloth and Janet (Jamie) Scott both of Williston; her sister Christine Burdette of Westminster. Betty had five grandchildren, Jamey (Ryan) Faircloth, Tonya (Dean) Clark, Leisa (Lee) Clamp, Henry (Patrice) Williams, and Jina (Corey) Phillips. She had 11 great-grandchildren including Trevor, Cameron, Taley, Emily, Caden, Connor, Matthew, Olivia, Corder, Cloey, and Levi. Betty was also a great-great grandmother to Brady and Bentley.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. She was the thread that held her family together. She always had a welcoming heart and embraced all who entered her home. She was an excellent cook who loved preparing meals for all of her family and friends to enjoy. Her table was a place where many would gather for cake, coffee, conversation and delicious Sunday dinners. She was an avid gardener and loved her beautiful flowers. Betty had the kindest of hearts and had a gift of making everyone feel loved. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
