Billie Rhae Pruett
AIKEN, SC - Billie Rhae Pruett, 80, of Aiken, SC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Born in Rock, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert L and Lucille Pauline Shepherd Howell.
She was a Bluefield High School graduate and received her BS from Concord College, Athens, WV, with a major in Math and a minor in Physics. After graduation, she worked for the government at Wright Air Development in Dayton, OH, helping to develop computer operating systems on mainframe computers. She joined System Development Corporation (SDC) now Unisys, a spinoff of the Rand Corporation. There she helped develop compilers, assemblers and translators for large operating systems for various government customers. She soon became a manager of the departments that provided the technical and operational support of satellite and missile systems. Her duties and knowledge made it necessary that she reside in Iran and Japan and many American cities. She retired after 25 years to Aiken, SC, and became very active in her church, First Christian Church (DOC). She served as a Deacon and Treasurer for both the church and the Disciples Women Fellowship and received the honor of "Treasurer Emeritus".
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Bobby Lee Howell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Donald Pruett, a sister, Gypsy Banks, a niece, Briana Banks, and her sponsored family, Sachiko, Maryanne, and Joelle Takahashi.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 2 PM at First Christian Church (DOC), 900 Kerr Drive, SW, Aiken, SC 29803 with Pastor Sotello Long officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church (DOC) in memory of Billie Rhae.
