WINDSOR, SC - A celebration of life service for Mrs. Brenda Summers Kirkland will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Lester officiating. Interment will follow 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Graceland East Memorial Park, Simpsonville, SC.
Mrs. Kirkland entered into rest Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital, Augusta, GA. She was native of Augusta, GA, and was the beloved wife of 50 years to Mr. James E. Kirkland and a daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Summers and the late Mrs. Bernice Herron Summers. Mrs. Kirkland resided in Greenwood SC for 5 years and after that made Greenville, SC her home for 24 years before relocating back to Aiken County making Windsor her home in 2003. She was a seamstress for Aiken Industries for 13 years and a Department Manager for K-Mart in Greenville SC for 17 years. Mrs. Kirkland was a Catholic by faith.
Additional survivors include one son, James E.
(Angela) Kirkland, Jr., Simpsonville, SC; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Tim) Sweat, Gainesville, GA; one brother, Alexander K. Summers, Beech Island, SC; five grandchildren, Jessica Neely, Joshua, Mitchell, and Matthew Kirkland, and Brandi Grover.
Pallbearers will be: James Ennis, Kevin Summers, Mitchell Kirkland, Matthew Kirkland, Michael Baggott, and Joshua Kirkland.
A visitation will take place 6-8 pm this evening Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS), AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
