Bunita "Bunny" Modling Martin
AIKEN, SC - Bunita passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 19, 2016, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Violet Modling and her sister, Dana Watts. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, John J. Martin Jr. of Aiken, S.C., her two daughters Windy (Mark) Schweder of Aiken S.C., and Melanie (George) Roussos of Seattle, WA, and 4 grandchildren: Aubrey, Quinalin, Grace and Peter. Before retiring to Aiken, South Carolina, John and she lived in Conyers, GA for 40 years. There she raised her children and worked as a teacher in the Rockdale County Public Schools for 30 years. She grew up in East Point, and attended Lakeshore High School. She graduated fro Auburn University.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you choose to donate to one the following charities that is closest to your heart. The to honor her battle against the disease. OR USC-Aiken Gregg Grantville Library, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, SC. OR the Seattle Public Library Foundation to honor her passion for reading and her grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held June 24, 2016 at 3PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church Aiken, SC.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 25, 2016. The family will be receiving visitors 11 - 4 at the home of Harrill and Janet Dawkins, 424 Starling Dr., Montecello, GA 31604.
