Catherine Baisley
New Paltz, NY - Final prayers and commendations for Mrs. Catherine Baisley, age 86 will be held graveside 11:00 am Saturday July 29, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery with father Jeffrey Kendle celebrant. Mrs. Baisley was the wife of the late Mr. Richard Charles Baisley and a daughter of the late Mr. Mark Patrick and the late Mrs. Ann Andrews Sweeney and was a native of Elmont, NY and had made Aiken, SC her home for the past 18 years. Mrs. Baisley was a counselor at Mother Cabrini in West Park, NY until her retirement in 1987. She was a seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, macrame and cross stitch. She used to make the habits for the nuns at Mother Cabrini's and the vestments for the Redemptorist Brothers in Esopus. She also made the altar cloths for Sacred Heart Church in Esopus. Mrs. Baisley was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of their Benevolent Society, Esopus, NY and when she resided in Aiken, SC she was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Benevolent Society. Mrs. Baisley was a volunteer at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Survivors include Susan (Joseph) Mitchell, Kingston, NY, Carol (Wayne) Mitchell, Saugerties, NY, Mary Baisley, New Paltz, NY, Richard (Susan) Baisley, Aiken, Thomas (Beth) Baisley, Aiken, Justina (Glenn) Wilson, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baisley was also predeceased by 2 daughters, Kathleen and Diane Baisley, one son, Michael Dean Baisley, one sister, Jean McNeil, and 3 brothers, Mark Sweeney, Billy Sweeney and Sandy McNeil. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 438, Aiken, SC, 29802 A visitation with the family will take place 7-9 pm Friday July 28, 2017 at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS) AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
