Charlene A. Collins
BELVEDERE, SC - Mrs. Charlene A. Collins, 74, wife of forty-three years to the late Jerry Collins, who entered into rest in 2009, entered into rest under the loving care of Trinity Hospice, on Wednesday, April 27th, 2016.
Born in Maldin, WV and a resident of Aiken County, SC, since 1954, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Golda Eichinger Allin. Following her graduation from Aiken High School, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she honorably served from 1959 until 1964 and was very proud of her service to her country. Following her discharge for the United States Air Force, she began her career with Westinghouse. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was involved in the women's group and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the American Legion. Charlene was very involved in the Belvedere Girls Softball League. An award is given out each year in her honor by the league. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and ceramics. More than anything however, she enjoyed spending time with her grands and great-grands.
In addition to her husband and parents, family members include her children, Suzanne Viles and her husband, Tony, Savannah, GA, Melissa Ready and her husband, Grady, Belvedere, SC and Elizabeth "Susie" Sack and her husband, David, North Augusta, SC; siblings, Diane Purvis and her husband, Andy, Wrens, GA and the late Charles H. Allin, grandchildren, Alex Viles, Kobe Viles, Jonathan Ready and his wife, Ashley, Jennifer Burkett and her husband, Kyle, Catherine Burroughs and her husband, Damien, and Magan Bedenbaugh and a great-grands, Waylon Russell Burkett, Brianna Grace Burroughs and Julianna Grace Ready and her four-legged children, Simba and the late Chipper.
The family will greet friends on Friday, April 29th, 2016, from 7 until 9 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2016, at 11 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Dr. Henry Chenault and Pastor Matt Love officiating. Interment, with Veterans Honors rendered by a United States Air Force Honor Guard, will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Carl Reed, Ken Ready, Jerry Register, Byron Burkhalter, David Roberts and Joe Reed. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan Ready, Alex Viles, Kobe Viles, Grady Ready, David Sack and Tony Viles.
