Reverend Charles Conaty
AIKEN - Rev. Charles Conaty, of Aiken, S.C., formerly of Hammonton, NJ passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018.
Father Charles served the Camden Diocese in the capacity of teacher, president and campus minister of St. Joseph's High School, Hammonton; he served as vice principal of Wildwood Catholic. Father Charles also served as Parochial Vicar at St. Martin de Porres, Hammonton, St. Edward, Pine Hill, St. Mary's, WIlliamstown and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Berlin. Father Charles served as Pastor of St. Matthew's in National Park and was a graduate of Christ the King Seminary in Aurora, NY.
Father Charles will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many, who was truly loved by all who knew him. He was a humble servant to the communities he was blessed to serve and share the Word of God. Father Charles loved to travel and explore the beauty of various cultures and faiths that God created around the world and passed that passion on to many.
Beloved brother of Mary "Mamie"(Byron) Gummoe, Patricia Massey, Kathleen Donovan and James (Kami) Donovan; Loving uncle of many loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Friday, 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 PM. There will be another viewing on Saturday, 9:30 - 11:15 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Mary's RC Church, 32 Carroll Avenue, Williamstown, NJ, where the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Most Reverend Dennis J. Sullivan, Bishop of the Diocese of Camden, will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Father Charles to the at www.heart.org.
