MARTINEZ, GA - Entered into rest on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Mr. Charles Milton Beard, beloved husband of fourteen years to Mrs. Maydean Mason Beard, of 4057 Briarwood Drive, Martinez, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Beard and Nell Rawls Beard Ivey, a sister, Barbara Wood and his step-dad, Marion Ivey.
Surviving with his wife is, his son, Charles Marion "Bo Bo" Beard (the late Gina), Gloverville, SC; two daughters, Carla Ward (Lamar), of Langley, SC and Jacqueline Johnson (Steve), of Gloverville, SC; two grandchildren, Amanda Johnson and Abigail Johnson; a nephew Ronnie Wood and a niece, Diane Wood.
His family said, "He was a very loving, caring and supportive father, who always checked-up on them to make sure they were doing okay. He was just the greatest Dad in the world!"
Mr. Beard was born in Aiken, SC on March 19, 1943. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in communications for six years. Charles was a retired electrician for International Paper with 33 years of service. He loved animals and supported many charities and clubs benefiting them. He also loved hot rods, music and playing the guitar.
A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday at 3 o'clock in the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Winsett officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Durden, Stephen Johnson, Lamar Ward, William Eustace, Raymond Groomes, Bruce Mason, Jr and David Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorials be made to the Humane Society or the A.S.P.C.A. local chapters of one's choice.
The family will greet friends on Saturday from 1 until 3 at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. No. 1, Graniteville, SC.
