David William Weems
BETHESDA, MD - David William Weems, aged 68, passed over to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2015 at Suburban Hospital, in Bethesda MD after a long illness.
He was born on April 8, 1947 in Atlanta, GA to John Wesley Weems Jr. and Elizabeth (Libbo) Danforth Corliss Weems. David grew up in Aiken, SC.
He graduated from Aiken High School with honors in 1965. After high school he attended Davidson College in Davidson, NC where he received a baccalaureate degree in psychology, but his true love was computer science, which was a new field at that time.
As a member of ROTC, he joined the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant and served during the Vietnam War, primarily at Fort Belvoir, VA within the Computer Command. After the Army, David worked in the satellite industry for many years. Among his accomplishments was helping to put the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit with his expertise in satellite telemetry.
David was preceded in death by John and Elizabeth Weems. He is survived by his brothers Danforth Corliss Weems and wife Andrea of Santa Fe, NM and Michael McMahon Weems of Winterville, GA and numerous other relatives.
