AIKEN, SC - Delano Franklin Castleberry, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Cedar Creek Church with the Reverend Phillip Lee officiating. US Military honors will follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home.
Mr. Castleberry was born on a tobacco/cotton farm in Harnett County, NC, a son of the late William Burton, Floy Stephens Castleberry and Alberta Castleberry. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church, current member of Cedar Creek Church, and former volunteer for the March of Dimes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, loved NASCAR, fishing, the coast and gardening. Mr. Castleberry spent the last 20 years of his life helping other achieve sobriety.
Survivors include his daughter, Holly C. (Ross) Jackson, Aiken, W. Scott Castleberry, Columbia, Joseph Castleberry, Aiken; a sister in law, Doris Sharpe, Olivia, NC; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Linda Brown Castleberry; a twin brother Franklin Delano Castleberry; sisters Margie Myers, Dorothy "Dot" Dixon; brothers Jimmy Dan Sharpe and Grover Castleberry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Creek Church, 3001 Banks Mill Rd., Aiken, SC 29803, or the , 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
